
Kacy Hutchison
Chief of Government Affairs and Advocacy
Kacy Hutchison is the Chief of Government Affairs and Advocacy. Kacy leads the U.S. federal and state government affairs policy and advocacy strategies to prepare for the safe and effective commercialization of MDMA-assisted therapy for the treatment of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) upon potential Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval. She is responsible for building comprehensive landscape and infrastructure to support future products in MAPS PBC’s pipeline to ensure access to improved mental health treatment options for patients in need.
Kacy is an accomplished government affairs and healthcare policy executive with deep experience envisioning, developing, and launching paradigm-shifting initiatives that advance access to medicines which address unmet medical needs. She was Vice President, North America Government Affairs and Policy at Gilead Sciences where she led all federal and state government affairs, policy, and strategic initiatives in the U.S. and Canada while heading the company’s Washington, D.C., Office. She was with Gilead Sciences through its highest growth phases that enabled them to become the global leader they are today.
Kacy has an extensive background in healthcare policy including in the Office of Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, where she served as Deputy Legislative Affairs Secretary and managed the Health and Human Services, Department of Managed Health Care and Veteran Affairs portfolios. She earned her undergraduate degree at the University of California, Berkeley and her Juris Doctorate at American University, Washington College of Law. She is a retired member of the New York Bar.
Kacy is passionate about addressing mental health issues. She has a sibling living with PTSD and knows firsthand the promise new treatment options hold for patients in need.
Kacy is based in San Francisco and enjoys skiing, hiking, traveling, and trying to improve her gardening skills.
