Alyssa Weinrich

Clinical Study Assistant (CSA)

Alyssa Weinrich earned her B.A. in psychological and brain sciences and philosophy in 2020 with honors from Washington University in Saint Louis, Missouri. Prior to joining MAPS PBC, Alyssa was an undergraduate research assistant while attending Washington University in Saint Louis, supporting the Cognitive Development Lab and the Cognition & Development Lab in their investigations of the structure of episodic long-term memory and factors of resilience in children exposed to traumatic life events, respectively. Alyssa was also an undergraduate teaching assistant for a large undergraduate course, Positive Psychology: The Science of Happiness, taught by Dr. Tim Bono.

At MAPS PBC, Alyssa is currently serving as a clinical study assistant working on Phase 3 MDMA-assisted psychotherapy studies for patients with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Alyssa is passionate about helping to bridge the gap between mental illness and mental wellness by supporting research on the treatment of internalizing disorders, such as posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and major depressive disorder (MDD), developed as a result of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and traumatic life experiences in adulthood. She highly regards the potential for psychedelic-assisted therapies to achieve this life-long passion and believes that all people have the capacity to heal, even those faced with significant adversity.

Alyssa is excited to support the clinical operations team and dreams of a world in which psychedelic-assisted therapy can help those affected by trauma to thrive, rather than simply survive, as resilient individuals. In her free time, Alyssa enjoys writing poetry, exploring nature, and immersing herself in new music.
