We studied whether MDMA-assisted psychotherapy can help adults cope with anxiety related to life-threatening illnesses.

Our randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled Phase 2 study gathered preliminary data about the safety and efficacy of MDMA-assisted psychotherapy for anxiety in adults diagnosed with a life-threatening illness.

Two double-blinded experimental sessions were spaced approximately 1 month apart with 3 non-drug psychotherapy sessions following each. Outcomes were measured one month after the second experimental session, and again six and twelve months after the last experimental session.
